  1. What a beauty!
Is there much local news about the nightmare oil spill in Peru’s Amazon? Indian Country Today has a major story up today about it. I hope this may serve to provide some support for Yasuni NP. I shudder to think of the damage that could come to a place I cherish.

    • I hadn’t heard anything but will be sure to double check the news… and I’ll let you know if it’s being talked about locally. Because we will be visiting the Yasuni NP soon, we’ve been talking lots about it and locals are telling us how unique it is and how it is such a irreplaceable part of the world. So many Ecuadorians would rather not see any oil exploitation at all.

      • The spill is in the next large river south of the Napo, the Marafion. ICT has horrible photos.
On a more pleasant topic, Try to visit the parrot “mine” in the park where they come in large numbers to eat the red clay for their crop. It’s just a short walk from the landing to the viewing area. Y’all enjoy!
