    I meant to reply to this days ago. What you pictured was real construction when I was a boy. A herd of sheep was the preferred method of embankment compaction. It was replaced with a “sheep’s foot roller”. And then, aided by the vibratory roller, is in use today.

    • You have got to be pulling my leg! However, after seeing the construction we did drive through, including close-ups of heavy machinery that should never be seen so intimately by folks just driving by, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was true 🙂
